About Me

My name is Naseer Shams (or "Nas") and I am an SC Cleared independent IT Management Consultant specialised in employing Systems Engineering, Enterprise Architecture and Programme/Project Management techniques to support clients in better understanding and managing their complex problems. You can see more on my capabilities (including qualifications) here, however please contact me for a copy of my latest CV.

As well as having an excellent academic record I have demonstrated my skills as a Senior Business Systems Analyst and Project Manager, working in both the Public (Defence and Justice) and Private (Banking) sectors.  I also have international experience having managed and mentored teams from home and abroad, delivering medium and large scale projects to exacting and demanding standards.

My prime area of interest is Organisational Behaviour, Organisational Analysis and Organisational Change and I have engaged with a number of organisations as part of such investigations.  I have led a number of Business Process Improvement projects, where my responsibility has been to analyse organisations using a number of different techniques (e.g. Business Process Re-engineering, Operational Activity-Based Management) and identifying areas that the organisation could reduce waste and improve efficiency, as well as identifying specific solutions for all the problems identified.

I have exceptional workshop facilitation skills which have been developed through my experience of working with key stakeholders in various major corporations.  I am able to confidently facilitate groups to ensure consensus is gained, relevant information is elicited and where appropriate, decisions are made.

Outside of work, my family (including two delightful children) occupies most of my time.  We enjoy going cycling and keeping fit through sports and recreation. One of my favourite times of the year is when my son and I take on an annual Charity Challenge to raise funds for various UK charities, including Save The Children, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal British Legion, Macmillan, to name but a few.  To date we have raised and donated over £10,000 between us.

My USP

What makes me stand out in the crowd is my truly unique blend of experience, knowledge and capability - I have worked on many transformational change programmes since starting my career in 2000.  I have worked for some of the worlds largest organisations, as well as for some smaller specialised ones:

  • Fidelity Investments

  • UBS Warburg

  • Home Office (Immigration IT Portfolio)

  • Metropolitan Police

  • Ministry of Defence (MoD)

  • Ministry of Justice (MoJ)

  • Sopra Group

  • BMT Hi-Q Sigma Ltd

  • Futura Defence

One of the constants throughout my career has been my approach to work - I have always treated customers with respect and courtesy.  I am a highly dedicated person and will always deliver to the highest standards.  My greatest asset has been described by others as my personality and ability to engage with all levels of hierarchy in a cool, calm and collected manner.
